Full day of workshops - 10AM - 5:30PM
The Two Ssssss…Shimmies and Spins
This 1 ½ hr workshop will focus on two things that seem to have many dancers stumped:
¾ shimmies - both ¾ up and ¾ down. This workshop will help in better understanding how to do the ¾ shimmy while moving/ walking.
Spins and turns – an easy method of learning to spot and to turn without wobbling
and in a control manner. This skill can be used in any form of dancing – not just
Bellydancing.

Flavors of ATS
This 1 ½ hr workshop is a sampler of the movement vocabulary from FCBD ATS –
-the basic movements will be cover along with some of my favorites. American Tribal Style Belly Dance (ATS) is an improv form of belly dance created by FatChanceBellyDance director, Carolena Nericcio. Improv tribal dance is based on the concept of lead and follow. Specific cues allows a group of dancers to dance together without having to follow a specific choreography. The followers watch for cues to know what movement is being called by the leader and provides the ability to bring dancers together in dance. Note: Please bring your zills – it will be used in this class.

Nubian Fusion
This workshop will teach the basics of Nubian dance along with ATS
inspired movement vocabulary to allow for improv nubian fusion dance. Fan veil
movements will also be taught - please bring a pair if you have it – it is not needed
to do the workshop but some movements can be done with fan veils and will be
taught.
1:45PM - 3:15PM

Dueling Duets
This 2 hour workshop focuses on ATS movements that can be used to perform in
a duet. Focus will be on ensuring correct allignment, proper usage of cues, movements when dancing with a partner. Attendees must complete Flavors of ATS to attend this workshop. Zills will be used in this class.
